Keeping the camping in glamping

Glamping is as much about camping as it is about glamour and at Driftaway Glamping site in Somerset our approach is to keep things simple and sustainable; that's why we talk about "keeping the camping in glamping".

Back to basics simplicity

We try to minimise our use of resources whilst offering comfort and cleanliness. There are no butler sinks, Aga stoves or posh linen, just straightforward comforts to make your camping experience as comfortable as possible.

We provide everything you should need, although we can't always guarantee the weather...

Camp fires and outdoor cooking

We encourage our guests to enjoy life round the fire and to cook over the outdoor fire pit too.

Simple kitchen facilities

But we also provide a compact gas stove too and there’s a small sink / washing up bowl in each glamping tent.

There's also a proper outdoor sink up at the shower house sheds to make washing up a little easier.

Wood stoves in each tent

Keep yourselves warm and toasty whilst you're glamping at Driftaway. You can also warm or cook food on the stove top...

Our lovely loo cabins!

One for each tent, housing a very clean chemical toilet for your own private use.

The shower sheds

The separate shower sheds each house an off-grid shower. It's no power-shower, but it provides warm-to-hot showers and we've had no complaints so far!

Off-grid; low impact glamping

There’s solar powered electric lighting in the tents plus candles and battery lamps, but it's always a good idea to bring your own torch too.

The shower sheds

There are power points up in the shower house sheds, so you can charge up your devices. In addition there's a fridge and a sink for washing up, and we do provide a cool box in the tent and ice packs.

Help yourself to herbs

Fresh herbs can make that camp fire cooking taste extra special, so help yourself. You can forage for wild garlic in the spring and blackberries too during the late summer; you might even find the odd mushroom or two...
